Strategy, Belief and Reviews

My life is so incredibly blessed just now. Each new week is more exciting that the last and I LOVE being able to share it with you here.

This week I was interviewed by Strategy Magazine and you can read the story they published here. It was so exciting answering questions about my little book. I can’t believe that I’ll be letting it out into the world on its own in less than four weeks. I’m such a proud book mama! I’ll be launching my books at Books and Books on October 30th – invitations are already on their way.

My other “big” news is that I have been invited to put together a slide show of my photographs with captions over on Beliefnet. I am over the moon, truly floating with happiness! I have such respect for this site and have long been a fan. I’ll let you know when it goes live.

I was excited to receive a review of my book from Mumbai. This is what Corinne Rodrigues had to say:

What a wonderful project this book is! This is the kind of book, I’d like to delve into now and then to be inspired and feast my eyes. The pictures are fantastic and you already know how I lap up affirmations and inspirational quotes. Absolutely my kind of book!

You can read the review here.

My Thank You campaign on Facebook is going well and I was super excited to thank two of my icons this week: John Bradshaw and Jack Canfield. I am amazed and grateful that they have each made their own contribution to my book.

On a personal note, my beau John is home from his world travels and having him here to share this amazing time with me makes it all the more special – thank you sweetie xxx

A Smiling Buddha, News and Auspicious Times

Many of you will know that my “day job” is promoting the books written by others. I have found it to be a very different experience promoting myself and MY book. It feels weird yet, strangely, satisfying to share the experiences of my authors. I have especially enjoyed sharing the gratitude with the many wonderful contributors to my book – you can see a selection of Thank You Memes in the slideshow below.

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of having lunch with don Miguel Ruiz, Jr, one of the contributors to my book. He is such a lovely man – he reminds me of a young, smiling Buddha – and is possibly the best hugger I have ever met! There was a TV set in the restaurant and when the San Diego football team got a touchdown he rose with a yell and a cheer! Thank you, don Miguel, for your lovely company and a wonderful lunch.

I had some fun on Facebook this week as “Doctor Kim” when I invited you to step into my consulting room where I’d use my photographs to cure you of your celestial phobias – some people really are afraid of the sun or the moon. Isn’t that sad?

I have some exciting news to share with you. I have heard a rumour that my book might be part of a holiday advertisement in the New York Times Book Review, along with the new Kirk Douglas book we are publishing (and which I’m working very hard on now). It’s hard to believe that taking photographs from my terrace could lead me to be in such esteemed company!

This coming week marks the sweetness of the Jewish New Year which couldn’t have come at a better time for me and my book project. It’s considered an auspicious time in the universe, a time of new beginnings, of renewal and rejuvenation, and the perfect time to launch something new into the world. So, I feel blessed times a billion for this opportunity to share something I love. A fledgling hobby that found its way into something tangible like a book that incorporates so many things that I love: nature, the ocean, beauty, inspirational words and people I love and admire. It might as well be Thanksgiving, but it is for me just about every day when I look out from my terrace in the morning.

Before this rant turns into a festival of sappiness, let me wish each and every one of you auspicious days and magical moments, and most of all lots of love in your life. And, certainly, may it always be interesting.

Enjoy the photos below and remember to subscribe to receive my news in your inbox every Friday. Let’s connect on Facebook too!

Have a great week!

The Countdown Has Begun!

I know I say this every week, but as we get closer and closer to “P” (Publication) Day, my life gets more and more exciting. I am so grateful that technology lets me share it all with you.

Sunday saw me kicking off “52 Days of Thanks.” In the 52 days leading up to my book’s birthday I wanted to show my gratitude to each of the contributors. If you have joined me on Facebook – and I do hope you have – you may have noticed the Thank You memes I am posting daily. You can have another look at them below, along with a selection of this week’s photos from the terrace. In fact, the photos you see are the ACTUAL ones from the book. I don’t want to leave anyone out so I have to have a system, right? I’m thanking my lovely contributors in alphabetical order and having a name beginning with a letter at the end of the alphabet makes me nervous I might be left out. I’d like to reassure everyone, from Melissa Applegate to Pat Williams, your day will come!

I’ve also started to invite people to participate in my October 28th book launch. If you’d like to join in, please have a look HERE. It should be fun and as exciting for you as for me!

The weather has been damp with a covering of gray cloud here in my little corner of Florida. There may be few shots of sunshine but the clouds and diffused light brought it’s own magic, don’t you think?

Have a great week!

More Reviews and a Worthy Cause

It’s been another hectic week here on my terrace. The sun kept rising and setting, rising and setting…it’s lucky I was there to document it! As usual, at the bottom of the page you can see the pics you may have missed if you’re not connected with me on Facebook. May I suggest you click on the little button over there on the right so you don’t miss any more? You know you want to!

I have been so blessed this week to have received several new, positive reviews of my book. You can read them using the links below.

I am so happy and grateful that my book is already bringing joy to people.

What you may not know is that a sizeable portion of the proceeds from my book will go to a wonderful charity, Aid To Victims of Domestic Abuse, Inc. This wonderful organisation provides help, support and aid to women who have experienced abuse from a partner and I am so glad that by sharing the beauty I see from my terrace each day I can help those who have lived through such ugliness. Please check out their web site and donate if you can. With so much nastiness and hurt in the world it’s good to show gratitude for all we have by donating even a little to organisations such as this.

Whatever you do, have an awesome week!

Sedona, Games and My First Review

What a fun and exciting week it’s been! I got home after my fabulous vacation in Sedona – a selection of photos are in the gallery at the bottom of the page – to find the beautiful Floridian sunrise and sunsets waiting for me. It was almost as if they had been waiting for me and my camera to return so I could share them with you all.

If you haven’t “liked” my Facebook page already, you have missed a fun competition. I shared one of my photographs and asked all my Facebook friends to guess whether it was of sunrise, or sunset. There will be more fun and games to come so why not head over there to the sidebar and click on the button so you can join in?

Of course, the most exciting thing this past week was the first review of my book! I am super excited that it’s such a good one and I hope it will be the first of many. You can visit Conny Withay’s review site to read the full review here but I must share this little snippet with you.

“Although the book has a wide range of different religious beliefs and no photograph can capture a majestic scene completely, viewing a beautiful sunrise or sunset shows how the Creator of the universe is amazingly artistic and creative.”

I couldn’t have put it better myself!

Don’t forget to subscribe to my site so you’ll be notified whenever a new post is published.

Enjoy the photographs and have a great week!

It’s Real!

I’m writing this in Sedona, Arizona where I’m taking a last summer vacation before my book tour revs up and takes off!

10629252_10152697004824680_5994993544409558085_o

Just hours before I left I got to hold a copy, a real, physical bound copy of my book. It felt so surreal to get my hands on a tangible product after all the months of photography, planning and editing. Dreams DO come true and I am so grateful for everyone who has helped give birth to my book baby!

So, while my Florida sunsets are being printed and collated into my book, I’m stalking southwest sunsets and soaking up Sedona’s mystical vibes. It’s tough to be me!

Please, don’t forget to share what you’re thankful for here and on Facebook. I’d love to see your own sunrise and sunset photos there too.

Here are some of the photos I’ve shared on Facebook this week – come and say “hi” if you can.

Have an awesome week!

Lights, Camera, Action!

How was your week? Things have been busy on the terrace – what, you think standing there, photographing the sun rise and fall isn’t hard work? It’s a tough job, but you know what they say: Kim has to do it!

This week I went to the movies and looked at sunrise  in cinema. We started off with a 1927 film called Sunrise about a loose city woman enchanting a poor, humble farmer and ended it with Tequila Sunrise with Mel Gibson and the gorgeous Michelle Pfeiffer.  I also shared some photographs of pale clouds and golden skies. You really *need* to click on the Facebook connect button, don’t you?

But my most exciting news this week is that my little book has gone to press – yay!!!

It was like birthdays and christmas and every other celebration all coming at once. I’m so excited to share it with you. Below is the video I made of the presses working on Sunrise, Sunset: 52 Weeks of Awe & Gratitude. I’ve also included a gallery of stills from the day. I hope you find them as interesting as I did!

Thank you for stopping by and have an awesome week!

What a week! My Facebook page now has over 1000 likes! Thank you so much for letting me share my photography and awe with you and if you haven’t already “liked” me over there, there’s a handy button over on the right of this page!

Sadly, this week we lost two stars. Miss Lauren Bacall passed over after a long life and the inimitable Robin Williams lost the battle with his demons. I am grateful for the entertainment, fun and laughter they each brought us.

Over on Facebook this week we celebrated sunrise and sunset in art, sharing work by Monet and Hopper among others. We had a chat about light and some of my lovely fans shared their own photos of sunrise and sunset. See what you’re missing if you don’t connect with me over there too!

I’ll leave you with a small selection of my photographs from the previous week and a reminder that you can get advance tickets to the Women’s Lifestyle Show, Peoria here.  And if you’d like to receive my weekly news delivered to your inbox, simply click for regular awe and gratitude —–>

It’s been an interesting and fun-filled week. If you follow my fan page on Facebook – and you really should – you’ll have seen the beautiful photographs I’ve shared there. I am so blessed to be able to see these images from my terrace on a daily basis. I’ve included a small selection of them at the bottom of this post. Please enjoy!

I’ve also taken you on a whistle-stop world tour of sunsets from around the world. We’ve been to India, China, Japan, Italy and France. See what you’ve been missing!

Today I also want to share something about the Peoria Women’s Lifestyle Show in Illinois. This annual show takes place on October 25th this year and I am honored to be one of six guest speakers. This exciting event has someone for everyone and in the words of the organizers,

“It takes a year to create, but for one magical day each year, the world
stops as women celebrate with their best friends, sisters, mothers, daughters, and each other…”

I’ll be sharing the stage at Peoria with three of the contributors to my book – available to pre-order on Amazon now -: Rokelle Lerner, Barb Schmidt and Dorothy Breininger, so do come along and say hello if you can.

Remember to share what you’ve been thankful for this week here and if you’d like to get my weekly updates sent to your inbox, click on the button over there   —–>
